When First Union became primary sponsor of Atlanta's Professional Cycling Criterium, known as the "First Union Grand Prix", the inaugural race presented a great opportunity to gather key employees for a state of the business meeting, including information on all aspects of a recent merger, and to involve them in the excitement of the cycling event. Leading communications producer EVI was chosen by First Union to produce the event.

With the Fabulous Fox Theater as the venue, EVI provided a turnkey solution of creative presentations, staging, lights, sound, special effects, entertainment, and food & beverage. The solution enabled key business messages to be delivered as well as the official launch of the race sponsorship. Many of the World Class cyclists were paraded through the theater in a grand "Opening Ceremonies" style celebration.

Employees departed the event with a clear understanding of and fresh commitment to the First Union mission, and primed to enjoy the big race on the following day.
